Getting Lost in My Own Neighborhood -- David Holladay

If you go the the small parking lot next to St. Catherine's Church (not the one across the street), and look across West Street, the is a "driveway" that is between the first house on West and the corner of North Main.

I understood that this trail led to the quarries, and was the place that yong people hung out on, I decided one Saturday morning to explore this route.

This path leads to the quarries (see entry for 49 North Main)
Some side paths lead to the backyears of houses along North Main
At this wrecked car, I turned right.
According to my notes, I turned left at this fork in the road.
Old quarry holes fill up. This one has clear water.

This sign was posted near where the previous film clip was recorded.
Another quarry hole, not quite so attractive for swimming.
Distant machinery where there is current quarrying.
A nice stone bridge in the trail.
Apparently I have come to the same "clear water hole" from another angle. This is a clue that I am starting to go in circles.

A little later, I pass two beer cans on the trail. They look familiar. I realize that I have looped back to the "No littering" location. Despite my best efforts to take notes about my path, I now realize that I have made a loop. I tried to backtrack and figure out how to get back to West Street, but I am not successful. I ended up taking a side branch which did not look familiar, but it took me between two houses on Hillside, and I managed to get back to civilization. Next time I try this path, I will bring a compass and take better notes!
